OUTPOST 33 TRADING POST & THE RANGER BUCK/BEADS SYSTEM

Click Here To See Our Trading Post Items For Our Boys & Teens

One of the methods used to encourage the boys and reward them for their participation in the Royal Rangers program is though the Ranger of the Year (ROTY) point system and the awarding of “Ranger Buck/Beads”. During each Outpost meeting, the boys will be graded based upon their ability to perform what is required of them. Boys who actively live according to the Ranger Code and strive to do their best in all they do will be rewarded for their efforts.

Ranger kids and Discover Rangers will receive beads that they can hang on their leather fob. White beads are $1, Green $5, Red $20, Blue $50, and Black $100

Purchasing Vest/T-shirt/Workbook will earn each boy/young man a one time $50 Ranger Buck/Beads bonus. Attendance to each Wednesday night meeting will earn $1 Ranger Buck/Bead. Perfect attendance for the month and quarter will earn a $5 and $10 Ranger Buck/Bead bonus, respectively. This is a reward for being loyal to the outpost. Arriving on time, to each meeting, will earn a $1 Ranger Buck/Beads bonus. This is a reward for being courteous.

Every boy that has purchased a uniform is expected to wear it to all Royal Ranger activities. Wearing a Royal Rangers T-shirt will earn a boy $1 Ranger Buck/Bead. Wearing his uniform will earn a boy $2 Ranger Buck/Beads. This is designed to help the boys understand the pride they should take in being a part of the Royal Rangers team.

Boys will be rewarded for their faithful offering by earning $1 Ranger Buck/Bead for each meeting for paid dues (If prepaid, boys will automatically get a bead for each meeting). This is to further encourage the boys to begin establishing the habit of tithing to the church.

Boys who bring a friend along to an outpost meeting will earn a big $5 Ranger Buck/Bead reward for doing so. This allows us the chance to reach more of the unsaved youth of our community. If the new boy becomes a member of our outpost, then the reward jumps up to $15 Ranger Buck/Beads – a total of $20 Ranger Buck/Beads

The boys will be able to purchase snack and drink available to them through Uncle Kris’ Snack Shack (at the cost of $2-$5 Ranger Buck/Beads).

Earning an achievement badge or merit will be rewarded with $10 Ranger Buck/Beads. Completing all of the requirements for an advancement badge for that year’s curriculum will gain a $25 Ranger Buck/Bead reward. This helps to keep the boys focused on achieving and striving to do their best.

Striving to conduct themselves according to the Ranger Code and obeying the Rules of Conduct can result in the boys being rewarded or penalized up to $5 Ranger Buck/Beads. A Royal Ranger should always strive to live up to the standards set by the Ranger Code.

Finally, attending an outing will earn a $5 Ranger Buck/Bead reward (and result in having lots of fun, too!).

At the end of each quarter, the boys will be given a chance to spend their hard-earned Ranger Buck/Beads at the Ranger Store (on average, a boy should earn around $200 to $300 Ranger Buck/Beads per quarter). The Ranger Store is stocked by the Commanders with items that will interest and excite the boys such as toys, games, candy, camping supplies, etc. The quarterly “Ranger Store Night” is an opportunity for the boys to purchase those neat items that they have had their eye on. One of the side benefits of this format is that the boys will learn how to budget their funds and to save for those big-ticket items they “desire”.

Welcome Parents!!

Dear Parent(s),

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your son to Royal Rangers Outpost 33! Every boy participating in the Royal Rangers ministry should be prepared for a fun and exciting time here at The Oaks Fellowship Assembly of God in Red Oak, TX. A future filled with games, crafts, camping, Scripture, and learning about our Lord and Savior awaits every boy. Our goal is to work with you to help develop your son into a total boy for Christ and to guide his footsteps along the path to developing as a Christian man and a citizen in the Kingdom of God.

The Commanders of the Royal Rangers ministry team in Outpost 33 are very excited about the future of the Royal Rangers program and we are looking forward to assisting you in helping your son grow in his walk with the Lord. Our mission is as follows:

“We seek to establish a ministry to boys/young men, which like refining fire, creates an exciting relational development of the full man of God through: Living in integrity, having character, & being a committed doer of the Word. We prayerfully seek to accomplish this through Teaching: Respect, Courtesy, and Christ like behavior.”

Royal Rangers will give your son the opportunity to earn exciting advancements on the trail to earning the highest award in Royal Rangers, the Gold Medal of Achievement. He will learn the importance of setting goals and develop the self-confidence that comes from accomplishing these goals.

Royal Rangers will develop lifelong friendships and find opportunities to work together through the buddy system and the patrol system. The buddy system means that your son should always have a Ranger buddy with him at all activities, outings, and campouts and they will look out for each other at all times. The patrol system enables him and the members of his patrol to work together as a team to accomplish great things.

Royal Rangers will develop and challenge your son spiritually through weekly Bible studies, Scripture memorization, and devotions. Royal Rangers will help him learn the importance of duty, commitment, and maturity, helping him to become a man of God. The Outpost Rules of Conduct, the Three R’s, and the Royal Ranger Code and Motto will give him boundaries for daily living. The Pastor and the Commanders will continue to challenge him to become a prayer warrior and encourage him to devote himself to daily Bible reading. We believe that the Bible is the ultimate “handbook”, filled with instructions for how to live your life in a manner that is pleasing to God.

In Service to the Master Ranger,

The Commanders of Outpost 33

Junior Survival Camp at Rangerland, Ok.

Three young men participated in the Junior Survival Camp, which is just one of many summer camps offered at the Junior Leadership Training Academy (JLTA).

They had a good time and really stood out in a positive fashion. Each was determined to have their patrol (small group) stand out as the best amongst 9 other patrols.

Also attached are some photos from the Elite Junior Leadership Training Camp (Elite JLTC), where I was the Camp Commander. This is the ultimate camp a young man can attend. You have to complete 4 required summer leadership camps in order to attend this camp. In “every” camp at JLTA, the boys/young men are actually taught leadership courses, leadership principles, and are given opportunity to apply what they have learned.

Go to the following site to see the photo album: Click Here For Photo Album

Elite JTC is a challenging leadership camp. These young men lead, give directions, and manage the patrol they are assigned to. Or they may be assigned the duty of production coordinator for the evening pageants/services or they could be assigned as the Color Guard Commander/Coordinator. When the young men graduate Elite JTC, they earn a saber with their name and favorite scripture engraved upon it. They are also granted the privilege to return to JLTA and attend the Junior Academy.

During JA, they young men can serve on staff as instructors under instruction and wear a Smokey campaign hat like any other instructor. After which, they can serve on staff as a patrol advisor, deputy camp commander or camp commander. The Junior Academy produces such good leaders; I have invited one to serve on my staff next summer. We estimate that we will grow from 7 to 16 Elite JTC candidates. LTA is an awesome event and is offered in North Texas, South Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and many other Districts. Hopefully, in a year or so, we will attend a Junior Winter Camp in Ohio or Wisconson.

All boys/young men are welcome to attend JLTA – we had a teenage young man participate and he was determined to go across a rope bridge unassisted. He made it across. Can you imagine how that affected him? He opened his heart to God and believed he could do anything he set his mind to!! This is what JLTA is all about – Pointing boys/young men to God and showing them, that as Christian Men, they can do anything God has planned for them!!!

Special Note of Thanks: I want to personally thank Ted Echard, David Gooding, Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept., Ruben Martinez, Chris Austin, and the Crabtrees’ for making this awesome event happen thru their prayer & servant hearts!!

Dear Stan,

Jesus said, "...to the extent you have done it to one of these brothers of mine, even the least of them, you have done it to me." Last Wednesday, during the Life School camp out, your Royal Rangers fed me when I was hungry. For that, I wish to thank them and complement them on their Christ-like attitude.

Thank you, Stan, for training up those young men in the way they should go.

Go For The Saber Young Man!!

Dear Outpost 33 Parents

Choice Christian Greetings,

The JLTA (Junior Leadership Training Academy) presents an awesome opportunity for your son to grow spiritually on his path to become a Christian man and an effective Christian leader. JLTA is a summer camp that presents a path of accomplishments that build upon each other year after year towards this ultimate goal of Christian manhood & leadership. The following is a recommendation to keep your son on this path of accomplishment.

JLTA Purpose and Description

The church is in need of strong, young warriors to advance the Kingdom of God!! The Junior Academy grows God's warriors today. Many of today’s boys/young men lack discipline, honor, and self-control in their lives and do not know how to be a man, much less a Christian man. To this end, we in Royal Rangers, are striving to answer the call to help raise a new generation of strong and bold Christian men.

In the ministry of Royal Rangers, boys/young men strive to achieve all that is held high in terms of standards, growth, and honors. This starts with the Discovery Rangers, 3rd to 5th graders.

It is a simple fact that no one can lead, who can not lead themselves. Therefore, the goal with our 8 to 11 year olds (Discovery Rangers) is to pass on foundational skills of personal leadership, personal accountability, and personal morality/ethics. Additionally we stress teamwork and create the basis upon which they will be able to lead others, as well.

Striving to achieve all that is held high in terms of standards, growth, and honors does not stop after a boy turns 11 yrs. of age and completes the 5th grade. It continues thru both junior high and high school. Year upon year, these young men have worked to move from one advancement to the next, but will only do so if there is a “next” challenge. Some of these boys achieve the highest award a boy can receive, the Gold Medal of Achievement. But often times after receiving this award, there are no challenges in Royal Rangers for these boys to work to overcome. It’s not long before they are no longer actively involved in Royal Rangers and sometimes not involved in their church at all.

Many of these young men are between the ages of 12 and 21; a time in their lives when they have a need to devote themselves completely and begin to fully develop their leadership skills. As a result, young men with as many as ten years of training in church and Ranger Ministry begin to slip away from the church. Years later, one of two of these young men may reappear in the church and perhaps become involved in a ministry within a church or even become a Royal Ranger commander. What happened to all those young men? What could have been accomplished for the kingdom during those years when the same young men wanted to do more in the Royal Rangers ministry or other ministries within the church?

The Junior Leadership Training Academy (JLTA) is one of the several options to help answer these questions. This training experience is designed to be a catalyst and springboard of spiritual challenge and discipleship for future ministry in the Ranger ministry, youth ministry, men’s ministry and/or the church. More so, they receive positive interactive Christian mentorship from Christian men and learn what it takes to be a good husband, an effective father, and sound spiritual head of household.

The goal of the JLTA is to prepare young men for a gradual, ever increasing role of leadership in their respective homes, local outpost/church, section, and district. The inspiration and training the Ranger brings back to his church & outpost is a source of rich ministry and edification to other boys in the outpost.

It is typical that a young man will experience a deeper, more meaningful relationship with the Master Ranger – Jesus Christ - during his training at the various Academy summer camps. He will learn things about himself and what he needs to do in order to follow the Lord’s will for his life. That high sense of spiritual awareness will become infectious as he continues to interact with Christian leaders/mentors. Those he comes into contact with will desire to have the same experience; to learn, to advance, and to respond to the challenge of the JLTA. In short, through the JLTA, boys are learning the importance of assuming their role of leadership within their future families and their church, thus training young men to become strong Christian men, husbands, fathers and leaders of the church!!

Sincerely – Your Servant,

Stan Lewis

Trail To The Sabre

Special Note On Earning The Saber: Elite JLC (Elite Junior Leadership Camp)

Elite Junior Leadership Camp is a post-Academy camp. A young man must have completed four JLTA camps [JTC, AJTC, JSC, & one of the optional camps]. These young men act as senior guides and over see the various patrols of boys/young men who are in the other JLTA camps. The camp will focus upon instruction reinforced by activity and leadership roles performed in a variety of opportunities.

Graduates who are eligible will earn an Academy Saber inscribed with their name, the date, and their favorite Scripture verse. This personalized Saber will be a trophy that many will want, but few Rangers will receive. Only those that complete the pre-requisite camps and Elite JLC camps will have the honor of receiving the Saber.

**Note, in order to earn the Saber, a Ranger must complete five camps - JTC, AJTC, JSC, one optional camps, Elite JLC, the Expedtition Ranger Leadership Medal, and complete 25 Spirit Challenges.

Great Texas PowWow - May 31—June 3, 2007 - Lakeview Campgrounds

Pow-Wow 2007 will be like nothing ever seen before. That’s because North Texas, South Texas, and West Texas districts will all come together for one big Pow-Wow.

Lakeview Campgrounds will be the scene of this never before held event. It will be a 4 day camp beginning on Thursday May 31st and carry into Sunday June 3rd.

Council Fires are being planned along with activities and all things worthy of this anticipated event. Some details are starting to come together.

The cost for this event will be $55/camper. This will cover registration, patches, and all meals. This is the first time a Pow-Wow will include meals. This will help with space for campsites. We are anticipating as many as 2000 campers at this event so all the camp space is needed. With all meals provided, your outpost will be able to leave equipment such as your kitchen and kitchen tools. Start your fundraising early for your outpost.

There will be an early registration time similar to Camporama so a count can be estimated.

An exciting list of speakers is coming together,

including Pastor/Evangelist Steve Hill,

Evangelist Randy Ruiz,

and others. This will be an exciting time of fun and activity with evening council fires/pageants that will challenge your spiritual life.

Camporama 2006

By Pat Riley -

North Texas District Staff

I’ve always told the Rangers that Camporamais the camp of a life time, whether you’re a
boy or over 50. And it didn’t disappoint! TheEagle Rock facilities were excellent, (most) of
the meals were great, the games were enjoyable, the FCF village was awesome, and the
services….well you just had to be there. 6000 hearts combined in worship, well it’s indescribable.

The Tuesday night service wasespecially significant for our outpost. Each of
our eleven boys were moved by the Spirit. Each of them grew amazingly. Our campsite
was changed after Tuesday night, and kept on through the remainder of the week.

Hat pins! Oh my, if you have never been toCamporama you just can not imagine. If you
have been, you’ve gotten the hat pin bug. Our Rangers may have had more fun trading and
learning how than anything else.

The games were fun, the exhibits were cool, but trading hat pins was like panning for gold. Our Royal Rangers are still wearing their hats and Camporama t-shirts.

The boys living together was quite interesting. You can spend the night with your buddy or
go on a Royal Rangers camp for the weekend, but nine days with folks you don’t normally
live with is an adventure. It wasn’t all pleasant, we certainly had our moments, but after a week of living together and having to solve the issues of the day, the relationships in our Outpost are better than ever. Cliques and rivalries became unimportant. The boys’ tolerance for those around them has grown incredibly. And when the older boys change like this, it runs throughout the Outpost.

Hat pins, games, pizza, car trip, swimming, sight seeing, rain, water guns, hot summer, three new places to camp, new friends, I tell you, Camporama 2006 was the camp of a life time. No matter how old you are.

We Invite You To A Special Court Of Honor

We would like to invite, one and all, to witness three of our young men receive the highest honor that a Royal Ranger can earn - The Gold Medal of Achievement. These young men are:
  • Daniel Bryce
  • Austin B. Crabtree
  • Jonathan Stewart

September 16th, 2006 at The Oaks Fellowship

777 S IH 35 E

Red Oak, TX. 75154

(214)-376-8208

The Ceremony begins at 11:00 am

in the main auditorium, with the reception to follow in Mangrum Hall.

Come see goals for filled and dreams unfold for these three young men!!!!!!!

____________

Obtaining the Gold Medal is the goal & dream of every boy/young man in the Royal Ranger Ministry, but few acheive it. Since 1998, we have had 8 other young men earn their Gold Medal of Achievement in our outpost. This year we will add three to that number. And we have three who became Silver Medalist this year, that should earn their Gold Medal in 2007.

A Brief History Of And
What It Takes To Earn
The Gold Medal of Achievement

The Gold Medal of Achievement (GMA) is a medal of great distinction and honor. It was first offered in 1963 with the first recipient completing its requirements in 1964. In its 40+ year history the GMA has been earned by over 5000 boys ages 12 through 17 years of age. Click here to see the list of recipients since the first GMA was awarded.

The average age of a boy earning the GMA is approximately 16 years of age. This indicates that a boy has been involved in Royal Rangers for at least 4-5 years before earning his GMA. At this time, slightly less than 1% of the boys involved in Royal Rangers each year earn the GMA. As a result of its challenging merit trail, it is truly a coveted award for any Royal Ranger boy.

GMA recipients must:

  • Be at least 12 years (and at least in the 6th grade), but less than 18 years old.
  • Have been a Silver Medalist for at least 3 months
  • Have completed 24 merits, 16 of those chosen from a required list and 8 personal choice.
  • Have earned 48 bible merits or earn the Gold Bible Merit
  • Have served in a leadership (junior) position for at least 6 months
  • Have written a 500 word essay on “The Value of Royal Rangers to Me”
  • Have completed a Christian Service Project

Choice Christian Greetings

Dear Adventure & Expedition Ranger Parents,

There are so many exciting things that are happening this year that I feel that I am going to burst with excitement at anytime.

Camporama is coming up and if your son's have never been they need to experience it. This camp is so awesome that it occurs only one time every 4 years.

Think on this, over 5000 men, boys and young men in one spot. It is so big that it has its own police force of 16 volunteers [from federal, state, county, and city departments]. Each and every day is full of events that will keep your son busy all day and the nightly services will feed your son's spiritual needs.

There is also our Mystery outing. During a Camporama year, we combine our mystery outing with Camporama. So on the way up - on the way back or both, we will take your son's on an outing that they'll talk about for years to come. Last time we went to Silver Dollar City Amusement park on the way up and on the way back. For the junior high and high schoolers, we are setting up a special event called "MO - THE NEXT LEVEL". Not only will they attend the mystery outing and Camporama, but we are attempting to set up a mystery outing - just for them & it will take place just before Camporama

We need for you to meet with us at one of the following times:

1. January 29th, from 12:15 to 1 pm in Room 101.

2. Phone Conference, January 31st, 7-7:55 pm

a. Dial-in Number: 1-712-432-2000 (call this number and when prompted – enter the participant access code and you’re in!)

b. Participant Access Code – 331777

3. Phone Conference, February 2nd,7-7:55 pm

a. Dial-in Number: 1-712-432-2000 (call this number and when prompted – enter the participant access code and you’re in!)

b. Participant Access Code – 331777

Also, we need as many parents as possible at the following meeting:
· February 5th, from 12:15 to 1:30 for a potluck lunch meeting that will cover Camporama and our flower sale fundraiser. CHILD CARE PROVIDED [BY OUR OLDER BOYS WHO ARE RAISING MONEY FOR CAMPORAMA]

We will have a copy of the calendar on hand, parent packet (with outpost info. for parents).

Please ENSURE that we have your email addresses and good contact numbers, so we can keep you in the constant loop of what's going on. This will prevent any last minute surprises. We have a 24/7 site with our calendar, parent related forms/info and news/updates/prayer request. When you get an invitation to this site - PLEASE - approve and opt in.

Also, we have a phone messaging service that will call you 2-3 days prior to an event as a reminder. Each of us has full plates and our kids are so busy that we forget things from time to time. Since we wish to be servants to you, these reminder calls will go out 2-3 days prior

Finally, we have an auto responder service. An auto responder sends out emails automatically at a certain time. We want to enter reminder notices of events, campouts, etc. The service will automatically send out notices to you.

Like I said, we want to keep you in the loop so that events and outings do not catch you by surprise - ever! So please opt in to this also. Your information is secure and will not be given out!

Thank you for allowing us to Reach, Teach, and Keep your boys/young men for Jesus Christ!!

In His Service,

Report On N. TX. Divisional Winter Camp

"THE PRIDELANDS
OF
THE LION OF JUDAH"

ROYAL RANGER OUTPOST 33
December 6, 2005

Dear Pastor Tim and Outpost Council,

I want you to know that we had a wonderful time at the N. Texas Divisional Winter Camp. Churches from the south Dallas, Waxahachie and N. Dallas Sections attended.

During the Friday night service, six boys received Christ as their personal savior, six more where filled with the spirit for the first time and 7 boys rededicated their lives.

Of these boys, our outpost had one boy receive Christ and two who where filled with the spirit for the first time.

Tobias Garner showed good leadership potential as the senior guide. Tobias Garner’s patrol guides - Joseph Williamson and Gabriel Del Valle also showed good leadership potential as they carried out the senior guides directives in setting up the camp site; maintaining a clean & safe camp site; and breaking down the camp site.

Sincerely,
